ST's new SMG

equlus84 SG

I saw this picture on militaryphoto.com some poster put these pictures up and say that it is a new SMG made by ST technologies. Any chance these weapons are going to enter the SAF inventories? I mean we can arm our technicians, base personnels can be trained to use them. I know that there is carbine already, but those fire full size rifle catridge, hard to control for those that may have some illness or disabilities. I know this looks crude, but it is still at infancy stage...........

mr_sotong SG

it look like a terrorist weapon.. Laughing

crusader91 SG

Looks like the mp7.
If so,i think it would be used for personal defence weapon or some police units.

Shotgun SG

Yup, its a PDW.

Btw, can anyone confirm this:

P90s are issued to tank-crews as well?

Say they’ve successfully developed it… Who will mostly likely receive this weapon? Armour crews? Bodyguards?

I tot only CDO scouts get P90?

THe first smaller blur blur picture lionnoisy show lon lon time ago already. THe second one is something new.

Tank crews have m-14 the carbine with the folded stock. CDOs get P-90 for certain ops.

Cullen[10] SG

Its for police.

Anyone know the calibre?

9mm Parabellum or 5.7 FN?

I actually didn't think that SAF would have a requirement for anything that's 9mm. If for SAF likely to be 5.7 FN.

Or maybe this is just for export?

For police I think they will stick to their HK MP5 and M16. This weapon, like the Uzi, would be probably just for SWAT or police spec Ops - looks to rougish for daily use.

chino65 SG

Do you mean M-16 carbine? Cos the M-14 is one big-a.ss rifle. And the M-16 carbine has a collapsible stock, not folding.

CM06 SG

yar ,m-16 with collapsing butt. mistake mistake.

i meant the M-4. The length of rifle is much lesser than the standard m-16.

Maybe it's just a change to the butt...i dont remember well..

SpecOps87 SG

Tankees use CAR-15.
AI use SAR21

And the ST made weapon according to AA2006...is a so called "CPW" or Compact Personal Weapon essentially a PDW that can be chambered for various calibres but now uses standard 9mm.Fires from a 25round plastic mag, able to go up to 700-900rpm.
