Delta 5 SG Strongly advice you not to... My cousin's take home pay is $2300 and he is struggling with the car, his family etc... A more realistic limit to comfortably owe a car is $2800.
huoye SG I never knew owning a car only consist of petrol and instalment. How about season parking, outside parking, road tax, insurance, servicing and repair costs.
CSpencer SG want to drive car, can be taxi driver or ahmad no money buy car, can take taxi got money buy car, also dont buy because petrol v ex got too much money then can buy car
GSXR~RACER SG justify urself.. if really love driving, it is still ok for u to spend large amount of pay. if thinking of a need, not really a must have one in sg. cost too high.. not just car instalment, also maintainance and usage kills.
wbucket SG Originally posted by T_track: This is some super compressed cost breakdown of owning a car. I only spend about S$150 on petrol per month and total cost still reaches 500 per month excluding installement. Brother, do you own a car? Just bought a Honda City yesterday(my first car in singapore)... looking for Honda Fit initially but the @#$% PI importer's promise changes every second. so decided to get a city from authorised dealer... though the car a bit more expensive, but looks more trusworthy... at least Sorry, I was directing the question to "zerocool85".
wbucket SG Wah lau! No wonder so carefree lah!!! Like this how you know what it is like to support a car earning a pay of S$1.5k?
zerocool85 SG can la bro.. my school mate work part time.. earn $1300.. can also afford to drive a car..
caleb_chiang SG Hmm... an average person would spent 1.2 on car each month... depends on usage and what car lor... heard KIA installment only 200plus onwards... maybe can...
seraG15 SG the 200+ instalment is based on a high downpayment.... to me 1k a mth enuf for maintaining and serving the loans for a car like lancer,vios,getz,picanto,kelisa.... excluding if u consider roadtax and insurance in $500 - instalment $250 - petrol $250 - misc eg cashcard, parking coupon, season parking
sunnyMAN SG as long as u can afford the monthly instalments and petrol, parking, fines, servicing etc with dat amt of money.. rightfully, you can say that u can 'afford'; to own a car..but that also mean a less fanciful lifestyle for urself as u'll be left wif lesser cash..
wbucket SG Same thing. It is your school mate, not you. Imagine your school mate working in his spare time, and what are you doing in yours? Plus both of you are still in the stage of having parents to fall back to. 10 years down the raod, when you are independant, then you know what many other expenses you have, and you have to clear them yourself. Bwt, mine expenses go up 5 times after I started working, another 2 times after getting a car. A total of 10 times from when I am still in NUS. Bro, enjoy your school live while you can, it is a cold world out here!!!
seancannot SG i used to owe a car a 1995 mazda 323 a few year ago ... believe it or not I blew close to 25 k ...(the expenses, losses I incurred selling off the car) for just owning a car for 15 + months ...when you own a car your social life will be more active fren will swamp to you loh, That how I got a lot of GF last time ba. But I got fren take things for granted expect you to send them from and back home... machiam like you owe them... they do not chip in for parking as well ... when u do not own a car then you know who your real fren are ... same if your GF is still stick with you without a car Owning a car will bring a lot of conveinces and a lot of troubles too $$$ .. try to get a better car if possible ... i really cannot tahan GETZ or Kelisa simply too small for me ... an ALTIS cost 59 K now .. is just fine for me but I cant afford sadly... so now I stick to my BMW (busmrtwalk) for the moment
zerocool85 SG yes la bro.. i understand.. but we were debating if $1500 can support a car ma.. u all argue cannot.. i argue can lor~ not talking about difficulties in life or watever issue ma...
hyperwan SG 1.5k per mth can support the car every mth but what about road tax and insurance due every year? when that happens, you need to pay installment +road tax+insurance at the same time and it can come up to abt 3k for that mth
one-niner SG my brother take home ard in the higher region of $3k, he saved for 3 yrs before buying his first car.And its kinda of draining on his savings still. Frankly $1500 take home. its as gd as the water level up to your nose.
