rane SG agree with you, Ignatiaus. It's saving $$$ that we care about especially in Singapore. Besides, reasonable price, they have a wide range of stuff. Comparing prices, prices of the majority of stuff at NTUC can't beat Sheng Siong. Sheng Siong has their own plastic bag, just dunno why they seem to stop using them already. The design of plastic bag looks good.

Cfm within 3 months NTUC close down move out Coz the aunties will buy cheap stuff at Sheng Siong I think coz they don't use their own plastic bag design is to cut cost. If they cut cost they can pass the savings to customers. Thats why by appearance they are not fancy looking compared to other supermarket coz they don't spend on decoration so thus saving cost. Thats why they can afford to have lower prices
Meat Pao SG Im not too sure whats so special about Sheng Shiong having cheap price. Supermarkets all sell cheap stuff anyway. Even if there is savings, I dont think I will bother to deliberately choose a cheaper supermarket. As long as whichever one is nearer and has the stuff I need to buy. Meat Pao.

dragg SG i fully agree with you. if you look carefully enough toiletries alone sold at supermarkets are AT LEAST one or two dollars more expensive.
rane SG oh yes, sheng siong sells real cheap things!! my neighbour just bought chicken at $2.85 each. Dun think NTUC can beat Sheng Siong! The body lotion is cheaper than other stores and supermarkets, the one I saw was nivea body UV lotion at $5 ++ whereas other places selling at least at $6.50.

Y_Shun SG dunno leh, but i think they should renovate some of their stalls... my sch there got 1, but it is like so tiny and u only have a small path to walk n choose ur things. how to fight NTUC Xtra when its larger 10 size?
simnatic SG It's not just the cheap price. It's also the VARIETY and services provided by SOME of the people there. Lemme share an experience In October last year my mom & i went to SS Ten Mile Junction near where i live. We bought an Akira TV at $99! Then, as we were exiting, it was raining and this man in Sheng Siong Uniform who happens to be a delivery person OFFERED us a lift in the Sheng Siong lorry! then it was like we put the TV into the back of the lorry which is the type with refrigerator and that guy sent us all the way back home!
Meat Pao SG Not that Im rich, it's because Im lazy. I just consider it as transport cost/ convinience. So I'll just go to whichever one is nearer. For instance, 7-11 is actually very expensive. But who cares, night time after 10pm it is the only outlet still open. Furthermore it is across the street only. Night time I go there sometimes. Meat Pao.
gnoik SG The 1 at ten miles is very big. 2 storeys. I prefer the tidbits area. So many to choose from.
rane SG if u r not staying near Sheng siong and need to buy just 1 or 2 items - then no point travel all the way there. MY sis just bought the bourbourn coffee/chocolate biscuits at only $2/- in sheng siong, won't be able to get this sort of price for this biscuits elsewhere in singapore.
savvy^gal SG Good news for all those staying @ or around Bedok Central. Giant is officially closing down today as they have lost the battle to NTUC. I myself visit NTUC and not Giant coz the veg @ Giant are not fresh at all... And I've heard news that the next new tenant is Sheng Siong. There is bound to be fierce price battles between the 2. And we the consumers are the ones who are going to benefit... I can't wait !!
sbst275 SG This one you're wrong If you are bigger, the more you should be selling more SKUs and not almost the same range as the normal FP outlets
