RSN sub simulator

lionnoisy SG

The Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) attaches considerable importance to training naturally with the help of simulators from RDE. Between 1994 and 2006, Singapore purchased sonar simulators, tactical trainers and a submarine simulation system, making it one of RDE's core customers...

Singapore last year bought a submarine simulator ..

Are we looking at German subs soon? Confused

tankee1981 SG

Not in near future...most probably we will be sticking with Swedish-made submarines... Very Happy

Fingolfin_Noldor SG

Hmm.. the French Scorpene subs are nice too..

Gun SG

Not yet. But SAF already a major customer besides simulator.

Rheinmetall is also maker of the 120mm smoothbore main gun on MBT Leo2 and M1A2. The Americans love it so much that they even request license to make it under the name M256 by General Dynamics.

Obersturmfuhrer SG

They may be nice but the platform will present a problem for ourselves in future "friend-or-foe" identification.

Fingolfin_Noldor SG

Well, it is the best Western gun around... although I wonder how it compares against the Israeli 120mm gun which is slightly different.

Fingolfin_Noldor SG

True.. oh well.. we try to get the larger Swedish subs similar to the Collins.

tankee1981 SG

If i am not wrong the Collins class are the biggest conventional submarines present in the Asia-Pacific region.

Maybe it will not be a good idea for us to have such a large sized submarine as it requires more manpower and higher operational cost.

Further more the sea area which our submarines patrol is no where near that of our Australian counterpart. Very Happy

Fingolfin_Noldor SG

In theory, the S. China Sea is the most possible battleground near here.

spartan6 SG

E South China Sea is not suited for big subs in fact it is not e idea place for subs obs at all, but i agree tat it is e most possiable " battlefield" in our region Neutral
