mhcampboy SG You sure? Nah.. give u sumtin to read... http://www.ntuc.org.sg/ntucunions/abt_ntuc_pap.asp
ShutterBug SG Harrrhaarrrrharharharharhrrrrrr...!!!! They are as INVLOVED as a chicken will SURELY leave crap all over your bed if you let one onto your bed..!!! hahahahaaarrharharharrrrr....
ShutterBug SG I know some Sheng Siong branches don't look too classy, but personally, I don't care about appearances if the goods are cheap or reasonably priced, fresh, and service standard is there. Sheng Siong's service and approach reminds me of IKEA - always willing to help and friendly.
mistyblue SG I support free enterprise. NTUC was suppose to pass the savings to the people. Seems that anything with govt, the savings is passed as profit and cost passed to consumers.
dork3d SG NTUC's main focus is to look after the welfare of the workers of all collars, while the main focus of the PAP is to look after the welfare of the people of Singapore... It's linked as NTUC has voices represented in the government to speak for the workers, while the government has the resources to support NTUC's causes for the workers... When Fairprice was formed and incorporated in 1980, it's main objective is to regulate the prices of groceries and food in Singapore... As a Co-op, it has to disseminate its after-tax profit back to all union members as forms of rebates, labour programmes, social contributions and events...
mhcampboy SG sure sure.... ok laa... then please tell the secretary general and all its top officers to quit pap and their ministerial appts also... government has the resources to support NTUC's causes for the workers... is becos... the government themselves are in it...
rane SG yeah, if that really come true, I, too, hope sheng siong will decline the offer!!! Besides cheap things in Sheng Siong, their service I think is the best among the supermarkets and departmental stores. Mustafa's service staff service really sucks, I just came back from there. I don't think they care about service in mustafa, no doubt quite a number of things there are cheap. Think sheng siong and mustafa have different management styles. boss of the sheng siong told the staff no matter how much or how little (eg though only earn 10 cents or 20 cents) they must treat the customers well becos their income depends on the customers.
rane SG Agree. NTUC is definitely still under the govt, who is so naive to believe it is not!!! Even the NTUC trade union is also under govt.
mistyblue SG Environment.... Chey, go in with a list, grab very quickly and pay. Its not like I want to stick around for a long time or slowly admire the gleaming fish eyes and whatever... just so long I save some money. Some grocery shops are worse. Some sell overdue food and stale food. Especially those run by indians/malay always have some strange smell. I think those are worse.

[/b]If that's the perception of your thinking of a trade union, maybe you haven't been through what's the turmoil of been an unionist... The SGs and its officers are not by choice elected into the Central Committee through PAP... If one day that the opposition can do better than PAP, NTUC would support the opposition...
dork3d SG NTUC is not under the government... NTUC only collaborates with the government to strive for the best for the workers...
dork3d SG They are in the government to make sure that the voices of the workers are heard and able to be voiced... NTUC has ever forced the government to rethink a lot of things that people are not aware of... NTUC has even went to the extent of calling a strike against the government and that's not illegal to do so in Singapore...
mhcampboy SG wad a min.... they are not in the government!... they are already in the government then NTUC. come on...just take a look at ntuc's secretary general... with pap strongman as the leader.... u think u all want to hold a strike?
