quarkz your friend must be one of the nsf paramedics at the a&e department who does not know what is going on only to come to baseless conclusions.

If you are really concerned about the injured worker and the standard of care he received please write to the straits times forum or write a complaint letter directly to mt e instead of tarnishing their reputation in this online forum behind your pseudonym. None of the hospitals in singapore, or probably anywhere else in the world, would reject a critically ill patient.

Precisely. I've been admitted to hospital via A&E twice due to severe anemia and can tell the rest here that things don't seem as smooth as it is once you're in the observation area.

It's pretty chaotic, especially with patients who think they're the kings there and also patient in great pain due to injuries and stuffs.

There is a DIFFERENCE between the Govt. Hospitals & Private Hospitals.

Private Hospitals:
` NO Life-saving equipments.
` 24hr Walk-in-Clinic.
` Mostly for Women & Kids.
`MOH Assigns as Non-Emergency Hospital.
(eg: SCDF Ambulance WILL NOT sent you to East Shore Hosp. but sent you to CGH even you have Heart Attack.)

Govt. Hospitals:
` EMERGENCY Life-saving equipments.
` MOH Assigned as EMERGENCY Hospitals
` Almost everything 24hrs. except foodcourt. =(

Well, the reason is actually quite simple - He is a lowly paid construction worker from China. He will not be able to pay the hefty hospital bill ... so why give him treatment?

Oh please, get your evidence and proof before you go off accussing other people/organisation. Don't simply assume stuff or add in your own intepretation of the situation. You can be charged for slandering in this case, had the hospital want to.

As mentioned, it does not matter weather or not the construction worker lowly paid or not, he's covered by insurance. Hospitals have to transfer patients here and there if they lack the proper facilities...that simple!

He was "transferred" from Mount Elizabeth Hospital (Mount E). The construction worker had fallen from 7th floor to 5th floor and then to the ground floor. His college rushed him to the nearest hospital, which was Mount E.

Why is the word transferred in quotation marks?

And his college? College is not a living thing.

I have doubts as to what really happened.

Edit: Everybody who rushes to A&E is critically injured, which is utterly nonsense. Some aren't, and I saw one rush to the A&E because she cut her finger, it wouldn't stop bleeding and WANTS a doctor to attend to her, when private clinics doctors would have settled it. Rolling Eyes

i doubt Mount E is equipped to deal with such things.

Depending on the condition of the bleeding.
if it keep on bleeding fro a prolong period (15-30mins), its time to hail a cab or call 995 before dying of Loss of Blood..

Whether its private or government organisation, the main purpose is still profit making. No money means out you go.

So don't think of getting a SCDF EMERGENCY AMBULANCE into Private Hospitals. Such as those in Parkway Health Grp.

SCDF Plys MOH Hospitals. for all EMERGENCY cases. (thus u'll call 995 what.)

last thing. pls call 995 if theres an EMERGENCY. call 1777 for NON-EMERGENCY
thats why the SCDF Ambulances gone to restickering of their Ambulances from "Ambulance" to "Emergency Ambulance".
