Hmmm im in favour of a presidential/government plane for government officials... Just like the SP1 Mercedes Benz that all officials can use.

Perhaps a small jet will do, 747/A380 is a big no no. I will complain!

B-777 is fine i guess. the shorter one that is cant remember model.

Come to think of it. 777 too ex. 737 just nice.

I have seen Malaysian PM Bhadawi stepping out of a official government plane, most probably a small Boeing aircraft, during an official visit somewhere accompanied by a small entourage on a news footage on Malaysian TV channel. So they must have an official plane somewhere. Confused

No need to have an official gov. plane to ferry Sing VVIPs. Gov. should not spend millions on something just for status. Using an existing military plane should be good enough. These have good missile protection gadgets.

Having a new official gov. plane will be something like a white elephant, good for status but seldom use.

Anyway, if there is a real need to spend for status, then go BIG!! Very Happy Like the latest Airbus A380 converted to take not only the VVIPs, but perhaps also a company of top rated dedicated commandoes with all their heavy weapons as all round protection!! Twisted Evil

1 of my dad's friends used to work in SIA in it's top level management and he said that it was actually cheaper for SIA to give the Government an official airplane.
Heck they actually offered one.But it was turned down because the Government and especially LKY didnt want to appear to use too much public money.

The cost of screening and checking and placement of passenagers wasnt very cheap.And they cldnt carry cargo as well.

Dr Madhater used to have a RMAF Nuri (Sikorski) helicopter at his disposal for domestic transport. We certainly don’t need dedicated VIP transport for our VIPs. Singapore is too small.

Plane is the only fastest way... unlike SG... from Changi to Lim Chu Kang less den 2 hrs..
