Eh... If you want to M4 with an extended barrel... Why don't you just buy the M16A4 which is the same thing?

Recently found an interesting pic from the Malaysian Cari forum. It features the infantry weapons used by their PALAPES. PALAPES units (Reserve Officers Training Units - ROTU) are formed at 12 universities and institutes of higher education to facilitate the recruitment of graduate officers.

There are 6 weapons in the picture,1x 84mm, 2x M16s, 1x GMPG(at the lower left side of pic), 1x BAR!!! and an unidentified light green tube which i assume is a Armbrust-like weapon.

I am surprised that they are still using the BAR (someone pls help me to verify this) which is used by the US troops in WW2! Anyone know whether they are used for their active troops as well or more for the reserves.

Can anyone verify what is the green tube which the guy is holding? Thanks Very Happy

BAR? On the left,that’s not a BAR. It’s a H&K family LMG/rifle with bipod.

i can't see the photos but i bet its an HK11A1. try google and compare.

ferryman2393 SG

as for the light green tube, my take is its an instalaza C90 disposable rocket launcher. an older weapon possible relegated to the second liners.

ferryman2393 SG

just managed to see the photo. yes, its an HK11A1 whilst the green tube is not the C90. its a mortar.

I saw that pic you were talking about, too.

But HK 11A1? Are you able to find a pic of such a weapon?

When you google there are a lot of sites that have the words HK 11A1 but no one actually has a pic of it. The one small pic found in a Russian website I saw looked like a HK 21. (7.62mm) GPMG.

Here is the HK 21 from Modern Firearms.

i think i have second thoughts about that green tube being a mortar...

could be your next door plumbing pipe for all its worth ...

have a look at this url for a photo of the hk11a1.

http://members.tripod.com/~gerak_khas/hk11.htm

its a favorite squad auto weapon for the malaysia infantry due to its robustness. fires 7.62mm rounds and can be belt fed.

its being replaced by the 5.56mm minimi for frontline units.

From the pic i can understand why it is considered robust! It looks heavy too, i will still prefer my Ultimax. Btw whats the latest version of the Ultimax in our infantry now? Very Happy

Finally found a picture of the HK 11.

It is a non-belt-fed 7.62mm SAW. Basically a heavy barrel assault rifle with bi-pod and quick change barrel.

This would put it in the same class as heavy-barrel M-14 and M-16 tried out for the SAW role.

Both didn't work and US adapted the 7.62mm M60 MG for SAW until the arrival of the FN Minimi.

can show singapore weapon?haha..i m curious man.. Mr. Green

Since we are at it, why don't we provide a list of small arms used by the different parts of MAF? i understand that some of their weapons are quite old so will be an educational treat for us all. Very Happy

I suspect that anything older will all be old British equipment. Nothing you don't already know.

Ah...someone with the same doubts as me...

I suspect they already have the Ukrainian T-84 before this purchase of PT-91M. Reason being their Deftech is a technology partner with the Ukrainian company over the T-84. Their advertisments are almost always on every issue of the AD&D magazine. Another reason being i personally have heard from my Encik saying something about the Malaysians having T-72s when i am still a NSF. At that time, there is no news of Malaysia planning to get the PT-91M from Poland! Very Happy

This makes them sort of like our NCC but for undergraduates. Very Happy

Uhh..tankee..that T-84 is just a 'sample' used by Deftech to promote the tank to the Malaysian Army. Whilst it sports the Malaysian flag and IIRC Malaysian camo, it has never been inducted by the Army...
