checkout another post i did here on the piston M4 ..
basically instead of having the direct gas impregnation which the
gas is blown from the hole in the barrel to a gas tube and blowing
directly into the bolt carrier to move the bolt carrier back. We
have the gas blowing into a piston which in turns move the bolt
carrier back.
Bascially without the gas blow back into the bolt carrier, you
don;t get all the hi pressure crystalized carbon, hi temperature in
sustain firing. thus a much more efficient system of operation with
less heat!
IN that! you get a much more reliable weapon in all ways ! ALso
reason the SCAR is being use ! it uses a piston just like the FAL,
AUG, AK, SIG, HK G36 etc etc! the direct gas system of the M16 is
flawed in the begining.
