Yes, it does have a very futuristic look but i wonder why the gun turret is not of a stealth design similar to that of the Visby.

Cost issues perhaps. Or maybe this is an export version, and if they bid for any of SAF's contracts, might include a different version?

Hmmm........ omparing the design on the fore ground with the one at the back, why the one in front has this non v-shaped hull? Ani significance in such design.
Anyway, the ship at the back resembles some wad like DCN's latest stealth frigate design, known as the Gowind series. It is said to have La fayette style stealth with a central mast shaped like a long cone. But this cone we see here resmbles some wad like the MEKO series. Does this mean ST is exploring partnership with the German company? So can we conclude RSN is starting to abandon small ship concept and start to invest on 1000+ ships?

probably yes. rsn is most probably abandoning small ship concept and currently i think their concept is geared towards stealthy yet ocean capable ships with better seafaring capabilities. my previous sec sch teacher used to be a naval officer on board the seawolf MGB and he often share with us how terrible it is for RSN sailors on board the MGB whenever they have training with navies with other countries in open waters as majority of the rsn crew will get seasickness.

In what scenario(where?) will the MCV's replacement operate?

Why not a more modern Raleigh class or larger Endurance LPD(with the sensors and networking) with smaller Skjold SES or the latest stealth M hull or catamarans that's being tested in the USN?

So who's taking over littoral warfare? The coast Guards? Will our coast guard be eventually shaped like that of the US coast guards, doing ship escorting and convoy protection.
Btw, wad is the difference between France FREMM deign and La fayette design frigates? Is the later a more diluted version o the FREMM?
If I were the RSN chief, I would have preferred the German F124 frigate design, having 2 of them as air defence destroyers would surely boost RSN air defence in areas far away from home. Mr. Green Twisted Evil

you mean frigates cannot do littoral warfare? with missiles like harpoon i don't think you will most likely find your enemies close to the shore. PCG is already doing ship escorting i guess. you dont need a ship with harpoon to shoot down pirates. Laughing

I think FREMM MAY be a more advanced version(not sure of the capabilities) because it is a rather recent project. might have some italian systems in it since its a joint venture. F124 is a nice ship but perhaps RSN prefer something that is multi-mission since in singapore we are so constrained by manpower until we are all so hype-up abt multi-tasking
