At least u know that the 0.5cal won’t cause a catastrophic failure. =)

SpecOps87 SG

Anybody has a comparsion of the using of Armbrust LAW,Matador,LAW72,AT4 series of light anti-tank weapons as compared to the 84mm Recoilless Rifles? Other then the fact that the 84mm RR can be reloaded and its able to use different types of ammo.

spartan6 SG

E 84mm RCL is classed as a medium anti-tank wpn not light

SpecOps87 SG

Ok,noted

Curious, what are the abilities of a LAW against enemy armour?

tankee1981 SG

Its definitely a heavy piece of weapon as compared to the old Armbrust. And Armbrust is disposable too as one can throw it away after single use! While you have to lug the 84mm around everywhere and that is definitely a killer. Very Happy

insouciant SG

Huh? Would have thot u would have known the answer.

LAWs are fine if fired from close range to armour. Anything beyond 200m, I wouldn't bother if it is heavy tanks.

Shotgun SG

anything above 200m is an accuracy problem. Rather than its capability to defeat armor.

The closer you are, you can aim specifically at weaker points in a tank's armor for best effect. Otherwise, the shaped charge warhead's penetration capabilities are the same at whatever distance.

tek_koh SG

84 mm aka Carl Gustav?

wonderamazement SG

Other than a tank killer? Laughing

SpecOps87 SG

Cuz LAW stands for Light Anti-tank Weapon. And I was wondering, the Light, refers to what classes of tanks?

beavan SG

those with lesser armour compared to other tanks. basically around 25 to 35 tons in weight

spartan6 SG

Well LAW r more like multi-purpose wpn la ,design 2 fullfill all sort of roles but excel in none eg. anti-tank, anti-fast craft, anti-copter, anti-bunker in fact basically anything u can see u can target but can hit anot tat another thing Wink
Seen Back Hawk Down? E RPG-7 knock down 2 Black hawks n also many infantry men n vehicles Neutral

moca SG

Actually how does a 84mm compared to the RPG-7?

We hear so much about the RPG-7 (or other RPG series) cos they are used in so many conflicts. On the other hand, though so many western nations in the world use the 84, we don't hear as much of it. The last I hear of them in action was during the Falklands.

Any idea of its performance vs the RPG?

The only thing I know about the LAW Ambrust and Matador is that they can both be fired in a confined space. The Ambrust is supposed to have a very small noise and smoke signature according to the some websites.

I'll bet the Ambrust is still good against all the armoured cars used in the region. And also it remains a good bunker buster. And the Matador is quite heavy.

beavan SG

matador got better penetration power. seems like the top is worried that our enemy might have better armour than we thought.

AND i wouldn't mind carrying something heavier if it means i get to live.

Shotgun SG

If it doesnt have a tandem warhead, its just not gonna do anything to an AFV with ERA.

spartan6 SG

84MM vs RPG Rolling Eyes no idea how they square up, can only imagine

SpecOps87 SG

Just curious…if we take the AMX13 w/o any ERA, and launch a Matardor or Armbrust at is..will it be taken down? Lets assume a frontal strike.

beavan SG

comfirm down.the armour of the tank is like 20 or 30 mm. penetration power of the matador is like 10 times that.

SpecOps87 SG

Ouch...I didn't know that the AMX-13's armour is that thin.Boy...sure wish I ain't a tankee. What about the BX and M113s?

tankee1981 SG

Confirm can penetrate SM1's armour especially without any further armour add-ons and ERA.

As for M113 and BX i am not sure but M113 shouldn't be a problem, as for the BX since the armour is thicker and is able to attach additional armour easily therefore should be able to withstand the Armbrust HEAT round.

beavan SG

armbrust maybe BX can take, but the matador will eat it alive for lunch.
