beg to differ. While RMAF's Hornets are primarily tasked to
attack mission, the planes themselves are capable of being used as
a pure fighter. While Malaysia's Hornets at this time are still not
AMRAAM-equipped, they are armed with the ubiquitous Sidewinder and
the Sparrow. Anyone remember a USN Bug which shot down an Iraqi
plane whilst still carrying bombs during Desert Storm?
those sidewinders and sparrows for the rmaf's hornets are more
for self defence. and i believe the bug that shot down the iraqi
plane was using the AMRAAM. not sidewinder. heck, they can carry
AMRAAM on a shoot first basis. why want to use sidewinder? its like
carrying a rifle but using a pistol instead.
