A TECH-SAVVY man who allegedly used his neighbour's
unsecured wireless network to post a bomb hoax
online has been charged in court, becoming the second person to get
into trouble with the law for illegal wireless access.
If you leave your wallet out in the open, then don't be
surprised if someone comes along and steals it.
I'm not saying that what the guy did was right. You should not use
someone else's wireless network without their permission, and
indeed, to post a bomb hoax online is as good as begging to be
jailed. Obviously the authorities would want to trace him for that.
If he is indeed guilty of the bomb hoax, then I hope that he does
get punished harshly for that.
But for goodness' sake, is it so hard for people to secure their
home wireless networks with a password or something?
