Emo music where got creepy? It's just originally a sub-genre of
hardcore punk that has lyrics that focuses on emotions that people
are feeling as oppose to the the usual political and anger towards
the government and supporting Anarchy type of Hardcore punk. But
that was in the 80s to 90s and then the original emo scene
died.
Now emo is used to describe almost every type of rock genre music
particularly that has connections to the hardcore punk genre which
have emotional lyrics usually involving breakups, missing someone,
broken friendships, most those kind of problems you can find over
at AA.
If you want creepy music go listen to gothic, those guys since
scare the hell out of me.
