"Singapore Technologies Kinetics (ST Kinetics) and Otokar Otobus
Karoseri Sanayi A. S. (Otokar) will sign Cooperation Agreements to
co-develop a new Terrex 8 x 8 armoured infantry fighting vehicle
prototype and to market the Bronco All Terrain Tracked Vehicle to
the Turkish Land Forces.
The agreements, which follow from earlier Memorandums of
Understanding, will be signed tomorrow at a ceremony held during
the 6th International Defence Industry, Aerospace and Maritime Fair
(IDEF 2003) where both companies are co-participating. The show is
based in Ankara, Turkey, from 30 September to 3 October 2003.
The agreement on the Terrex (called Yavuz in Turkish, meaning
"robust and forceful". It is also the name of an Ottoman Sultan.)
provides the framework for joint collaboration on design,
manufacturing and agreement on marketing rights with regards to the
Terrex. The collaboration will enhance ST Kinetics' competitive
edge in marketing the vehicle globally. The development of the
Terrex has drawn extensive interest from strategic partners around
the world.
The second agreement with Otokar sets the basis for marketing ST
Kinetics' Bronco All Terrain Tracked Vehicle (called Sakarya in
Turkish, named after the city where Otokar's manufacturing plant is
located) to the Turkish Land Forces. "
