Fearless Class Patrol Vessel

tankee1981 SG

The first six vessels are armed with triple tube 324mm B515 torpedoes launchers from Whitehead Alenia. The torpedoes are the A244S also supplied by Whitehead Alenia.

The second six vessels are configured for anti-surface warfare. They were to be fitted with the Gabriel II short to medium range anti-ship missile supplied by IAI, but this project has been abandoned. Gabriel II uses dual mode semi-active and active radar homing and is armed with a 100kg warhead. The range is from 6 to 36km and the missile velocity is 0.6 Mach.

I think from the above information, it is possible that our PV can be equipped with anti-ship missiles in times of war. Most probably Gabriel missiles will be used. This is because some patrol vessels are designed with the 'fitted for but not with' concept. I suspect our PV are also designed in a similar fashion. Very Happy

E surface PV r fitted out 2 handle Harpoons n can carry them when need be ,so i heard

beavan SG

what about the FCS?

spartan6 SG

If they means fitted out for i think it include installing e FCS 2

By the way anyone knows which model of the Gabriel missiles are we still using in the RSN? Very Happy

spartan6 SG

With e decommissioning of e MGB we r no longer using Gabriel missile

The first six vessels of the class, Fearless (94), Brave (95), Courageous (96), Gallant (97), Resilience (98 ) and Unity (99), are armed for anti-submarine warfare missions. The remaining six vessels, Resilience (82), Unity (83), Sovereignty (84), Justice (85), Freedom (86) and Independence (87), are patrol vessels.

Hey, got mistake in the webby given isiz?? (98 ) should be RSS Daring ...

Coquitlam SG

You peopl actually discuss all these useless topics like MGBs and warships here?? Man…go get a life….pathetic sillypore

LazerLordz SG

And what's wrong with that? Military enthusiasts come in all shapes and sizes, nationalities too.

Be more broad-minded. Rolling Eyes

Coquitlam SG

Oh sorry for being narrow....my goodness if I weren't broad minded, I would not be running a business....and running across countries....

Just discussing about warships is so lame..so bo liao as they say in hokien...so waste of time....no wonder employees have so much time on their hands

gd4u SG

Eh, sorry, but i dun get ur point...
Discussing warships, isn't lame. In fact, warships do play a very large part in history. The Battle of Yalu, where Chinese (state of the art, yes,at tt time) Beiyang Naval fleet fought with the Japs. The result of the War made China well, suffer alot. Such a big n lengthy part here, how can it be considered, lame n waste of time?

spartan6 SG

2 each his own but pls at lest respect other's intersts Neutral

saline SG

doing all the above mentioned doesn't mean that u are broad minded.
if u can't even understand that everybody have their own interest, eg: computers, cars, sports, etc, than how can u say that u are broad minded?

u are running a business, good for u. that is ur interest. nobody has criticised u saying that u are "money-minded" or such right?

spartan6 SG

Wat do u guys think we replace e Mistral with a CIWS like e Typhoon gun system on e PV/APV since e OTO Melara 76MM has longer range then Mistral

If you think all this discussion is lame and a waste of time then why are you here? Don't you think that commenting here is a waste of time too? Especially to a broad-minded businessman who ran across countries, time is precious you know?

Please avoid wreaking my thread. Thanks!

Coquitlam SG

Wrecking your thread?? hehehe Well....

No one is stopping you from contributing...Just sharing my 2 cents worth...

Man.....what a military junkie you are...esp on sg military equipment...what's the use....its just a small country...not worth defending

gd4u SG

SMALL COUNTRY = NOT WORTH DEFENDING ??? OMG ... That's an extremely narrow minded view... Perhaps, it is just like saying, tt company is just a small competitor, no need to be afraid.
