tankee1981 SG The last time i have heard is that the Philippines Navy is interested in getting them but without the missiles. Any news? Another possible scenario is that these are transferred to the Police Coast Guard after the missile systems are removed and some upgrading done to patrol the Pedra Branca in the South China Sea.
ah_kwang SG i hope they transfer it to the PCG. this will increase the capability of the PCG. It seems better to operate a gunboat in the malacca strait than a tiny speedboat.
gd4u SG eh, they decommissioned th MGBs already?? How come i never heard anything. I think like previous cases, the MGBs will be handed down to PCG. Like one PCG officer told me, gov $ changing hands only …
tankee1981 SG Actually I don't think the PCG patrol the Malaccan Straits but they have the CPC class of boats to patrol the Pedra Branca in the South China Sea. These boats are bigger that the speed boats but i am unsure of what they are armed with. But the missile gun boat even with the missile systems removed still have the 57mm Bofors "A" Gun which will definitely come in handy against larger adversaries.
