If u wanna talk about black ops, they would be trained to use
dubious neutral weapons like AKs, old stock M-14s as well as other
stuff normally found in guerrilla inventories.
Otherwise, specially modified weapons are also available. Ever
heard of an M4 carbine that fires 7.62 M43s? Can even accept AK-47
magazines.
Anything for plausible deniability. But of course, no one knows if
our SOF boys are blackops, or perhaps a step up into such a unit.
We all know civil unrest can be a powerful tool to destabilise a
region. How the US troops used the northern Alliance in
afghanistan, the minority muslims in Iraq, and the Kurds in
Iran.
It almost becomes a "must have" for successful follow up
campaigns.
