i think we still must follow geneva convention.. unless i got stuck in a situation like the movie Rules Of Engagement then i would stick my rifle barrel in a captured enemy’s mouth

Torture is a definite no go. Tiring the POW physically and mentally would be a gray area…

Interrogation is not for you to conduct. We have trained personnel to do such things. Leave the dirt for the professional “cleaners”.

Probably those methods that are in compliance with the Geneva Convention. Remember, we are not the US, and are therefore not immune from being charged for 'war crimes'.

I think almost every countyr still practise this although the Geneva Convention is still on.
I came across an article another day from some military magazines that covers the this topic.
The article stated that in order for effective interrogation to take place, there must be three elements exist-

1. Awareness of Interrogation
Receipent must be aware why he or she is being interrogation
2. Awareness of submission
Recepient must submit to the interrogation
3. Awareness of retention
Recepient must remember that he or she had been interrogated.

Although the points looks simple, but i think it is true to a certain extend.

the ironic thing is that it's people within Israel itself that's making noises about that .....

how about you go google about Arab torture techniques used on Israeli POWs ? ..... I don't see how making someone stand for hours (even if they were stripped naked my female MPs ... ) can generate more noise than digging out eyeballs, tearing off fingernails, and slicing off tongues ..... those were techniques used by conventional Arab armies ...... let's not go into those terrorists slicing off people's heads slowly with hunting knives on video eh ... cos that's not interrogation, that's just "sports" to them ....

Don't ever imagine SAF won't torture sadistically, far far away from the Geneva Conventions rules. I believe its usually not the chiefs of staff level that make 'break Geneva Conventions' torture a policy. Its the field level people, who have seen too much brutality and lost comrades, that come up with their horrible torture.

When its war-time, all bets are off, with regards to civilised behaviour. You and I, and all the other very normal people we associate with daily, are just as likely to turn into brutal beasts.

Watever it is, its the rank & file who suffer.

Higher ups ask you to torture. If you refuse, you get charged for insubordination. If you obey, later news leaks out, higher up will cover backside & claim you did it of your own accord & you get in the sh*t too. Either way you kena. So how? Mr. Green

my JC pe teacher who was a retired PROVOST officer said he was taught on how to interrogate POW and he learnt to use the different types of tortures on them in case of wartime.
