tech questions bout Ignis Sports

hi all...

this post is for the ignis sports owners or any car enthusiasts around.
i've always liked the ignis sports, but am still unsure about some technical specs and stuff.

1. is the ignis sports going to be phased out soon/ or going to be replaced by the new swift?

2. are parts easily available for the ignis sports? such as aftermarket filters, brakes, suspensions... etc, or other parts that need replacing after some time.

3. is the ignis sports front wheel drive or 4 wheel drive?

4. and is the stated 8.9s from 0-100kmh really true? as in real road and stock condition, and not the 'ideal' environment?

5. are there any parallel importers carrying this model? if so, does anyone know who?

the swift is not a performance built car like the ignis sports.

i wont recommend buyin the IS now since the swift GTi is on the horizon…

To your questions on IS:

1. Phased out is confirmed and likely product discontinued. However, not replace by Swift since the engine capacity will be different - 1.5 vs 1.6L in future. Not many IS new units left at Champion... grab it while u can.

2. Not as easy compared to a Rex or Honda model. Nonetheless, you can also DIY (self-import) or customized locally.

3. Front-wheel drive only.

4. I believe not a problem i stock... some of the hardcore drivers should have bring it lower with some mods now.

5. So far not a single advertisement from PI for this IS model except the basic 1.3 model.

only managed to find the old 1989+ 1.3L model... will the new one be 1.6/1.5L, and better in performance than compared to the ignis sport?

I heard there is a road-show at Taka this weekend. Go to check out the IS there... maybe can get some goodies during the road-show

Allow me to ans some of your question, and hope it helps.

1) Yes the IS will be phasing out soon. Last heard is that Champion motors left with 4 pieces. After this, all gone. Was 9 units two abt two weeks ago. Heard that Swift GTI is coming out in 2006. 1600cc, but will cost abt 10k more than IS. Power to weight ratio should be IS slightly better.

2) The parts are not hard to find, if you ask me. You must know where to find! That's more important. You can pm me with you wanna know where to get their parts.

3) Front wheel drive.

4) Stock condition the car is already pretty fast. In fact, with a some mod, the car should go below 8 sec ........... i do not know how fast is the fast cos i never time myself.

5) Not that i know of. Japan already stopped the production of this car..... anyway, just something to poison you.

grab it while u can. valued for money car for those who are into hatch. its performance will put most car in its range into shame..eg: es series civic, vios, ts, mz 2 & 3, getz..last heard only 4 left..i would love to grab it if i got the money now..too bad. another car u might wanna consider is daihatsu yrv turbo. but i would still recommend IS..u get recaro seats, enkei sports rims & pefromance of 8.9 sec in 0-100..all for just 59.9k..what else can u ask for? haha..all the best man!
