Tipping Petrol Station Attendants

are we supposed to do that? when they fill up you car or when they clean your windscreen...
my colleague told me they do that in malaysia and was wondering why I don't tip the attendant...

i dun think so..the word 'tip' is good enough to tell you that you r not obliged to pay anyone.. if you are it's called 'charge' or 'cost' not 'tip'

haha....tips is when u r impressed by the service...remember once i was in some lounge toilet...toilet attendant super on..help me open tap n stuff...actually is i open tap he close tap..when i wan to leave the toilet..he knn skin thick...cough n cough..hinting wan tips..so juz give him 2 bucks..if he nv hint, might consider more..

Singapore follows the system of service charge. Therefore there is no need to tip unless u deem that the work performed is above standard. This apply to all service industry.

saw this comment on tourism related publishings..

i think you colleague are stupid sorry to say that.....but its true. Been pumping JB petrol for many years and never give them tip or heard givnig them tips.... Also never heard any malaysian driver tipping them also. Dont spoil the market OK.

This is not US where tips is the livehood for them.

my fren use to work in petrol station, say only taxi driver tips more than 90% of them will do it but seldom got pte car driver tips ..
