Hi - are you a Sonata fan too? I'm noticed more on the roads these days and am going to test drive the latest model later this afternoon. Have you heard of any problems encountered with this car? Think the 2005 model looks more chooier! has a more german-Audi look to it.Whatdo you think boss?

the design of 2006 sonata is one of the best for mid-size sedan here in my opinion. last month i've considered/driven it though i did not buy it (decision maker is my wife not me). however i can say if i bought it i would not regret at all with 77,000 price tag.

depreciation for sonata 2.4 is high at 77k cos omv is only 16k. Santa Fe 2.4 has same omv but only selling at 66k.
mazda6 2.9 at 81k also have similar depreciation [omv 20k] as sonata, but lower fc and roadtax make it cheaper to maintain than sonata

Very Happy thanks achiverer.. my wife wants to own another segment car so i have no choice but to postpone the purchase of it(even it seems likely that next year i may have much more choice than now). moreover if i change my car now i may lose about 20k though there may not be any difference in monthly payment. plus, i'm not young anymore (i mean gonna be in my 40's that is i don't try hard to be cool Mr. Green ) then i have to count on all the pennies i spend.

meanwhile, i could not find any flaw on new sonata which asked me to throw away all the conception i used to have on that brand. even when i refer numerous reviews (though the review from UK is totally contradictory to that of US's) that proves the way it goes. this link gave me glimpse of mid-size sedan comparision http://townhall-talk.edmunds.com/direct/view/.ef733f6!make=Hyundai&model=Sonata&ed_makeindex=.ef733f6

PERSONALLY, i don't think "unrealized future gain/loss" is main issue to change/own car in singapore especially when we talk about OMV, rather the monthly surplus after paying all the bills go to invest.
(no offence) we simply presume that we may have better car from our next purchase but the fact is that (as humble salary man as i am) there is slim chance to downgrade/upgrade car which diminish all the benefit of high OMV.

Hi sohigh99,
today I went for a 2nd test drive - and thats when you can pick up things you missed out the first time.
Realised there is a "gasping" sound each time you stab at the accelerator- so I ask the SE if this can be fixed or is it some air-leak in the air-intake or if this a characteristic that cant be fixed.
Maybe because overall the car is very silent on normal "ah-pek style" driving that you tend to hear unusual noises. This time I switched off the music unlike the 1st test drive.
Also find too much "hard-cheap looking" plastics used on the the lower dashboard section. And the locally fitted leather squeaky at the rear seats (like rubbing against each other when theres passenger in the rear.
But at this price, I guess one has to be more tolerant for a 2.4L car with so many standard features. Maybe wait for Generation II even if it may cost slightly more.

test drove sonata abt 2 mths back… the ride feels comfortable n quiet…. very stable… but FC is a huge concern…. esp with the rising petrol prices…. SE told me abt 9km/l… but from experience, normally need to cut by another 2km wan…. so dats abt 7km/l…. a very thirsty machine….
