The MG used in the video is of German origin...wonder how it is compared to our MG from Belgium? Any one used it before or have info on it? Very Happy

SMAPLionHeart SG

Their MBT looks solid compared to our AMX-13

I think MG is all most or less the same la......

The standard GPMG of the Swedish Army is indeed Ksp. 58, which is, essentially, the license produced version of Farbique Nationale(FN) MAG, while the MG3s as seen in the video (can't recall the Swedish designation) was received as the "package deal" along with the Leo 2s, if the memory serves me right.

It does appears to me from the clip that the rate of fire from this MG is higher as compared to the one SAF is using but i am not sure. Anyone have the specs? Thanks Very Happy

ps: I wonder how the Swedish environmentalists will have to say when they see how their MBTs knock down trees in their training area!

donchoo SG

Our MBT is AMX-13?? I tot was the centurion or something, the AMX was light tank.

saline SG

have u seen ours? if u have, u won't say that.

Delta 5 SG

Yup I have heard about a number of 'other MBTs' in SAF service besides our Centurion MBTs.

But I won't risk getting myself in trouble for revealing it here... For some of us to know and for others to find out... Wink

saline SG

yeah. national secret. me was from HQ armour last time. wat ya think?
i rather the "others" don't find out.

Spec. of MG3:

BTW, I just found out the Swedish desgination of MG3 is Ksp-94.

The latest variant of Ksp-58 is Ksp-58DF:

The new modifications include:

P.S. if you going to shop some candy...bring the GPMG and get the candy for free Mr. Green .......

tankee1981 SG

I am a bit impressed that the foreign conscript( in our terms NSF) soldiers are allowed to carry their weapons and go shopping! Swiss soldiers are even allowed to keep their weapons at home and they have been doing this even before WW2! I am not so sure about the Isareli soldiers, but i think they are allowed to do the same as well. I supposed that i won't be seeing this happening in Singapore any time soon, imagine the look on the taxi uncle's face when you carry a M16S1/SAR-21 in FBO when you book out on weekends! Very Happy

ps Our newer tank is as good or in some sense better than the Swedish ones! Just hoping they will finally reveal the older ones during NDP since our Malaysian counterparts have already showcase their much newer PT-91.

Most European countries allow their soldiers to bring their weapons home. This could be because most of these countries have hunting seasons and thus their populations would most likely have weapons anyway.

Polyshot SG

Not quite.......

Sweden ==> only homeguard ( 40'000) can keep their weapons at home.

Switzerland ==> every soldier keeps his SIG550 at home and after leaving the military gets to keep his weapon.

In Denmark, the national guardsmen can keep their weapons at home, aswell.

One should remember that neutral nations like Sweden and Switzerland have no allies at all, they must mobilize to defend themselves as quickly as possible.

|-|05| SG

Norway get's to keep theirs also dont they?

Polyshot SG

The Norwegian home guard used to keep their AG3(H&K G3)'s at home too, but the end of the cold war ends of the need for quick mobilization and some Home Guards' AG3 were used in criminal and the like, has made the military decided to recall them and\or makes the Home Guards to surrender the firing pin and keep the scrap metal that remains. (But AG3's firing pins can be bought over the internet, so it's strictly politics.)

|-|05| SG

Ahhh ok thx for clearing that up.

Polyshot SG

No problem...... and if you saw this video you'll know another reason why their gov't don't let them to keep their rifles(if the media saw that video, the troopers that involved might loose their job as well):

Hah i thought there were reservists goofing around?

Polyshot SG

I don't think they are reservists........ that CV9030 is too new for the reserves.....
