Collection of data is only part of the problem, the
classification and end product use may be marginal, unlike SOSUS
(Sp?) in N Alantic which was the first line of detection of
outgoing russian boomers.
We have too many smal craft in the straits; fishing boats which may
snag the cables, anchourages where ships may drop and lift anchors
damaging lines etc.
Being shallow makes echos a nightmare, plus sound propagation makes
for poor analysis. Think is better to have a Infrared surface
detection system.
