How come Officers use Pistol in war?

last SG · 2006-02-04T00:17:34+00:00

but it is a fact isn't it? yes or no?

Agenda SG

Like in Saving Private Ryan and other war movie, The big dudes always use Pistol rather than Rifle and feel very honour to get their pistol.. I mean I would rather have a big gun beside me than a small one

Laughing

ditzy SG

Coz when the big bullets run out, thats all they have....left. Laughing

kAdEn SG

The pistols are more for shooting deserters.

charlize SG

What if the officer himself deserts his men? Laughing

Black Aces SG

That's why they issue THE MEN with M-16s/SAR-21s/SAW/GPMG/84mm etc! Just like soccer, the ball is round, either team can win; 5.56mm can be aimed either way. Talk about being outgunned! Laughing

There are so-call SMART Weapons but I doubt there are SMART bullets (... yet) that will differentiate friendlies from the enemies.

So, your worry is.......?

LRRP SG

For summary execution

Black Aces SG

Btw, in the event if the officer is surrounded and face the possibility of capture vis-a-vis spilling any valuable info out during interogation+torture by the enemy. and taking one's life is the only way out in such as impass, it will be easier to point a pistol at oneself, don't you agree Twisted Evil

Imagine aiming yourself at the head with a GPMG or 84mm!

charlize SG

You think the officer got the testicular fortitude to do it just so secrets don't fall into the hands of the enemies? Laughing

Fatum SG

testicular fortitude .......... hmmmm .... nice phrase ! .... Laughing

Agenda SG

GAWD! I'm learning new things everyday Twisted Evil

Shotgun SG

hahah, good one, Couldn't hav thot of that myself... lol! Laughing

LazerLordz SG

You can use "Testicular Fortitude" in dinner cocktails but not good ol' "balls". Laughing

charlize SG

I wanted to use "balls" but I didn't want people to think I was ... uncouth. Laughing

Icemoon SG

so the lesson is before you desert .. shoot the officers first?

archon1234 SG

Most of the time the deserters will act blur act blur and quitely siam away in the midst of chaos…. except some bloddy idiot deserters who ran away crying and shouting in berserk… then the officer will take out hist pistol and send these bloody fools back to their “home”

dragg SG

this is true.

Icemoon SG

I doubt they can hit the escapee successfully. With so many trees, soldiers and of course lack of training.

SMAPLionHeart SG

Anyone who has fired a pistol will know how inaccurate a pistol is compared to a rifle.

If someone wants to desert during wartime , do you think it is as easy as
"Sir , i want to go home...bye bye.."

most likely he will slip away in the midst of chaos without the officer realising...
I believe that when it comes to dire situations and when the whole country is at stake , nobody in his right mind would choose to desert when his own family is at risk.

The only situation when people will desert is when our soldiers are armed with SAR-21 and asked by the officers to face off a column of PT-91 tanks .
Which i believe will never happen.

Unidentified SG

Being officer sitting in office for too long , is too weak to carry his own gun properly
