Yeah I think our local ads are adtarded. Most of the time they
try to play on trends or directly dumb themselves down to appeal to
a very focused target audience. Instead of being refreshing. BTW to
one of the above fellas, the 123 ad is Kuishinbo ad. Yeah very
retarded, but you see how else do you convey that this is a
Japanese restaurant to the aunty population? Simple, dumb it
down.
The Tiger beers ads try to be refreshing, by ripping off creative
serial advertisements, without any purpose. Ok, so Tiger beer is a
secret. The ads does nothing to speak of the quality of the beer or
the qualities they are trying to embody. Jessica Alba won't like it
so much anymore. No longer is a a beer you drink with your friends
during "Tiger Time" or a quality beer even Americans look for. It's
a secret...wooOoooOoo so mysterious.
I do agree that Saatchi and Saatchi do come up with some good
advertisements. It's just that they are only one firm. They will
spark stupid trends though. Take all the M1, Starhub, whatever
Credit companies. For example, I'm sure everyone knew what they
were trying to sell. Join us....Join us, and your life will be
beautiful you'll live a rich life.
I think Singapore ads do one thing right though and that is
bastardising great songs.
