yea, i've heard that Benz was the one who popularised the keyless thingy. Aftermarket parts you say? hmm...thanks for sharing.

Ya at times things are best in the practical way cause with this type of fingerprint system there could be only one person to start and drive the car, he would not be able if anyone else wants to drive the car. He person who resigters his finger print must be around to let others drive his car.

maybe i shd use the word 'search' instead of 'reach'..you can reach for anything, its a matter of time and convenience

i dun think you need to search for ur door handles..but IF you drive...im sure you will understand the hassel of searching for ur keys thru ur pocket or bags etc..

any to evo: yes i agree..but im sure those manufacturers will also think of programming various users if ever they haf a biometric car-entry device..maybe 1 car can haf 3 users?? why not??

yeah..my opinion is dat keyless is conveninient..havent experience any 'cons' of using a keyless entry car..im using it on a latio btw..you might wanna consider safety (of your car) as one factor..coz initially i was sceptical abt keyless entry too..coz it doesnt give me security..to enter a car without keys..but if u find out more from the manufacturer?? they'll explain to you why it is safe enough

hmm i drive no prob for me my keys in the pocket no need to search

anyway the programming not to let say 3 pple be pre programed for entry but rather one person but provide a key for others who borrow the car

hm…tink remualt are suing card. not sure for the others. for merc, only the mroe ex one has it. and fomr wat i know, u can press the ignition button even when the key is inside yr pocket unless renualt where one has to slot in the card.

My car is installed with a Remote Engine Start device i.e. press a button on the device, and the engine will start up automatically .. it’s effective distance is said to be as far as 500m unblocked … well, I tried remote start the engine at 300m before, works pretty cool … The device is also equipped with Remote Alert i.e. if someone meddles your car, it will send out a page to your remote device like a pager alert sound ….

Couple of my brother's colleague and my uncle bought the Renault Megane were impressed by the equipment list their cars had including the keyless ignition which was once avaliable in expensive cars like Mercedes Benz S class.However, after 2-3 mths, most of them were receving common problems of the keyless ignition failing to authenticate with the car and starting, and some even not being able to open their own car door.
