SpecOps87 SG To my knowledge, SAF does not employ the use of any .50 calibre sniper rifles. Only weapon in SAF inventory which employs the .50 calibre round is the CIS 50.
panzerjager SG There are actually sniper rifles of 20mm calibre really (.50cal are 12.7mm). Can think of two of them, from South Africa and Croatia
panzerjager SG was told that the commandos may have it, although probably not the Barett type rifles used by US SOCCOM community
Shotgun SG Whats the name of these rifles called.. anti-material sniper rifle or smth... Mainly used to punch out the engine blocks of vehicles.
ditzy SG After sispec, 1/3 of my batch went on to the infantry weapons camp to be sniper instructors.
SpecOps87 SG But they got teach you sniping in SISPEC meh? As a Infantry Specialist…hw is it possible to teach so quickly?
chunyong SG teaching is is balistics lah, windage etc...temperature...distance compensation...teach u bullets dun fly linearly from the point it leave the 'kung' to the point where it leaves a 'kung' etc etc.
Shotgun SG Seriously, they needn't bother to teach so much about ballistics and trajectory. For the average spec, just tell them that if u zero ur weapon for 100m, and ur target is only 50m, aim lower. Thats all.
panzerjager SG it is known Commandos (mostly SOF) and almost definitely STAR uses the AI's (or AW now?) 7.62mm (probably .338 Lapua Magnum as well), but do they also use the .50cal version as shown here ?
