New Camera Snaps Tailgating Drivers

British police are developing a new breed of roadside camera to trap tailgating motorists.

They believe that, unlike existing speed cameras, the device will be popular with drivers because it will combat one of the most dangerous activities on Britain's crowded roads.

The laser camera will measure the gaps between vehicles and record number plates so that offenders can be penalised.

I believe this technology is already implemented in Germany for trucks that travel too close to one another.

sg should implement to them to local heavy vehicle.
on expressway they always like to tail each other very close lor.... knn... dunno why they like to tail each other so close. somemore block up the first lane cannot filter out to join or filter in to exit expressway.
what if one day infront sudenly brake then behide all the monster truck crashes into each other? that will be one spectacular sight...

keke, now wat day and age liao? camera more likely running on memory card rather than conventional films lah. sides' the camera would likely feature a speed monitor as well to show that the car was tailgating instead of the user being a roadhogger. can easily connect this to over ride the signals when traffic is heavy Wink but who needs it anyway?
