chikopek SG does anyone encountered any malaysian who doesn’t have s’pore driving license but driving singapore registered car?

IcedLemon SG m`sian license holder can drive m`sia / sin registered car provided they dun hold work permit or any residential status here. if they do, they need to convert their license. i think shd be like this, excuse me if there is any wrong info.
cairocks SG why not? Malaysian coming to singapore for tour, decided to rent a car from a singapore car rental firm and there you have it. Don't see any problem. Singapore license holder can also rent a car in malaysia, provided not to drive it into Singapore.
Gedanken SG As far as I can tell, the regulation is a protectionist policy aimed at preventing Malaysians from undercutting Singaporean car dealers. If a Malaysian wants to pay more to drive a car, and the money’s going into Singapore’s coffers, why not?
cairocks SG I feel it is to prevent singaporeans from going over to buy much cheaper cars. Then everyone bypass COE and even Singapore road tax.
