Oh I'm keeping my options open although I am intrigued by Singapore because it is a bit exotic to me. Italy would be also. I'm so bored hear in NYC. I know...

Hi,

I am going to graduate college in NYC, USA in about another year and 1/2 and I'm pursuing a degree in history. I was wondering what kind of work I might be able to get in Singapore if I were to move their with this degree? It doesn't seem like much but I might be wrong so that is why I'm asking. Singapore appears to be an electronics and science/math nation. These are the types of jobs I could get in America: http://www.historians.org/pubs/Free/careers/ So are these types of jobs available in Singapore? Thanks in advance.

you could do

you could do ?

you could do ......

Shit la, i dunno wad you could do...

Cystaire SG

You can become history teacher!

Lorenzo2 SG

Yes, I could become a history teacher, which is what I wanted to do in America until reality set in about the types of kids I would be working with. Are high schoolers (I guess that's secondary school figure age 14-18 ) in Singapore well behaved, usually, in class?

Fatum SG

no ... but at least you don't have to worry about them pulling a gun on you ....

the very worst that'll ever happen would probably be getting your car scratched ... Laughing

Cystaire SG

Depends on wat school. But they don't shoot their teachers. Laughing

Last time in neighbourhood school have gangsters wait outside school gate to wallop teacher.

Nowaday kids have no balls one, so you are quite safe.

Ya lor, history teacher, social studies teacher, english teacher, museum curator, tour guide, nus tutor but must at the same time do ur masters and must have honors..like that lor.. NYC? New York College? or NYU? I never hear of NYC before leh.. If u rom NYU, just stay in America la, ur college degree will be very sort after, esp such a prestigious institution like NYU.

Cystaire SG

Oops multiple post.

LazerLordz SG

It’s more worthwhile to pursue a history related career in the States. Try starting out in the museums or curation agencies.

Multiple post…

thought ppl are going to compliment my post

thought they were quite funni Confused

NYC is New York City. My college is Lehman its in a borough of the city called the Bronx. I'm not in NYU, that's too expense. I'm glad Singapore is safer, that was my first thought. In America its very bad in high school (secondary school).

Lorenzo2 SG

pierre^^ I was going to say something about what I might be able to do in relation to your post but I didn't want to through people off topic, at least not this quickly because I am genuinely curious. And to the person who mention it I would like to do something in a museum in America. What about working in a park? We can do that with a history degree too but we may need some other classes in America. In other words a park ranger. I don't think that's very big but I'm sure some park needs safety in Singapore, plus I can ensure a good time Smile by enforcing the rules.

Quincey SG

Ar.. I think this country got enough rule enforcers already la. We need more educators la, come back and teach.

fymk SG

If you are american and you are caucasian , I think Ministry of Education was trying to recruit "native" english speakers. Foreign talents always are welcome.

If you are Singaporean , you have to join the rat race and be aware that you might not have a hope in hell of getting a job with a history degree since you are not from NYU. Unless you want to teach history ...

I think Arts degree need at least PhD in order to make it big. Rolling Eyes

Sad to say, there are not many choices for you to choose from… Most people with an arts degree will become teachers…
