haha but u live in singapore. just buying one will kill u. and u dun have a licence. dun talk so soon man... on the other hand, i live in UK a porsche, 996 series 2nd hand, would only cost about 10k pounds. ahaha so it would be possible for me to consider buying a porsche. Heng, I think price of car is very subjective and relative to how much you earn. Cars are cheaper in UK, but everything else beside booze are double or triple the price here.

As for skyline, it is cheap it got raw power, but it is not a porsche... Laughing

booze is hardly expensive. vodka mixers are often 2 or 3 quid. i remember paying more in sg. in fact we often go for special nights where drinks are a pound. pray tell where i can get alcopops and mixers for S$3.

as for skyline, maybe its no porsche. but i like it. fair 'nuff?

There are 1986 944 Turbos and 1989-92 944S2 coupes and cabriolets too.

and not to forget a sole 1982 924 Carrera GT, Champagne Gold.

IMHO, those cars are really not worth keeping as they are not the classis rear engine Porsche models. Beside that, it will cost a bomb to keep and maintain them.

maybe they're not rear engined, but they were pretty good. It was a pity sales suffered because people's perception of porsches are that its got to be rear engined. if people thought like that now, the cayenne wouldn't be selling, and the boxster n upcoming cayman shouldn't sell either, both being mid engined.

944turbo and the s2 are better cars than the older 911(930). In terms of handling and power from the 944 turbo. You be surprise if you sat in one.

If the 924 and 944 are successful projects for porsche, I dont think they will discountinue the production. If I want to keep a vintage car, I will make sure there is value in what I am keeping.

911 to me is a classic regardless if it has less power than the 944. If I drive I 911, it will still give me that WOW factor. As for 944, it will probably be mistaken as a old japanese coupe.

If you are comparing cars which are designed and build ten years apart, I am not surprise that 944 s2 will have better handling. Car is all about technology isnt it?

whether something is a successful project doesn't solely depend on whether it is mechanically good. the fact is that motoring mags back then, and now still, praise both cars for being very good to drive and very well handling cars. unfortunately for porsche, the stigma of being a strictly rear-engined brand ensure that sales didn't do well for the 924 and 944. indeed, one of the prestigeous brit car mags, once did a shootout between one of the older non 911 porsches and the Ferrari F40. guess who won the shootout?

If I am buying a 20 to 30 years old car, I dont think I will be so concern if my car can perform or handle better than modern sports car. If I am looking for pure performance, then I think I might consider EVO.

Let me ask you, if you were to get a used porsche, will you go for a 924 and 944 over the 911? If yes, why?

If you were to ask me the same question, I will say that a used 911 anytime. Reason are design, performance, resale value and spareparts.

They are niche market cars.The 944 was produced from 1983 to 1991.Not a bad run I'd say..

To each his own.But I guess the 944 is not as tough to maintain as a 930/911...Audi powerplants.Straightforward engines.
