Cystaire SG Nowadays when we have new attachment students I noticed that very few of them speak dialect. Years of speak mandarin campaign has taken its toll. The young generation eat so much kendang that they cannot even speak Chinese proberly, let alone fluent tok gong Hokkien. How can? How can? What if one day I wake up and nobody speak Hokkien anymore? Seem sng ah!
pierre^^ SG chinese will extinct coz young punks nowadays think speak eng beri chic den always pretend not to understand chinese
Cystaire SG But how many of we all left? All the ah beng in jail, and those last time watch "Ah Seng" one now all watch Korean drama already. The rest have been eating kendang or (wah lau eh) learning northern Chinese accent - must juan sherrrrrrr... Jit bai jia lat. I think we endangered species.
ditzy SG All my relatives can speak at least hokkien, cantonese, and some teochew. Same goes for my immediate family. My sis is more inclined to speak cantonese, what a rebel.
Fatum SG siang gong hokkien uay bo eng ? ... le ker tiong kok go wu jin juay lang gong hokkien uay leh eh ....
Cystaire SG Dun always knn here and knn there, actually Hokkien very art-ful one. For example it is full of jiao wei huay heong ah! Wu huay eh sor zai, dio wo yi su. Dio boh? Dio boh? Dio 4D ah!
Honeybunz SG hokkien sound so horrible. Even the "I love you" sounds like vulgar words. should go extinct long time ago lah!
Cystaire SG Chao siao kiah! *slowly unsheaths a rusty parang-doh from an old copy of Lianhe Wanbao* Wu ji li dio mai zao.
Fatum SG actually hokkien sounds very gentle when spoken ... hear all the old folks speak hokkien ... they are all very soft spoken .... it's the ah bengs that spoil it .... but a cantonese conversation on the other hand ... always manage to sound like a prelude to a fight ... *takes cover ....
Cystaire SG Wo ai ni Wah ai li Sounds equally elegant - such an art-ful language! Where got vulgar? Hokkien very gentlemen one.
