It's traditional in Japan to take your shoes off when you LEAVE
your house. In this way, they don't get damaged through
wear-and-tear, nor do they get covered in all the dog-poo which you
find everywhere in Japan.
The Japanese fit their toilet seats with a cooling mechanism. This
stops their buttocks overheating when they go for a dump during the
summer.
In order to reduce waiting lists in hospitals, the Japanese
government recently decreed that the traditional greeting of bowing
shall be replaced, as it has resulted in many cases of concussion,
even brain damage, on account of people banging their heads into
each other. From now on, all people must greet each other by
bending over backwards instead.
There are 24-hour convenience stores all over the place. These are
far more convenient than their Western counterparts, in that they
have toilets, fax machines, photocopiers, kettles, washing
machines, staplers, and cookers, all of which can be used by the
general public. You can also get beer all night, pay bills there,
have a haircut and manicure, get a cup of tea, or have a massage.
In addition, some stores are fitted with a set of wheels, so that
if you wake up in the middle of the night feeling peckish, they'll
wheel the whole shop around to your doorstep to save you the
trouble of getting dressed and walking there. Very
convenient.
The Prime Minister, Junichiro Koizumi, looks like Richard
Gere.
Japanese women think all Western men are really cool. Even the
spotty geeks. Japanese women love black guys, but Japanese men are
not so accustomed to black girls.
In 1650, Japan inexplicably disappeared off the face of the earth
for 200 years. Many theories were put forward as to why this
happened, including alien abduction, or that the country had sunk.
Eventually, in 1854, an expedition from the US stumbled upon Japan
in a forest in Northern Alaska. Apparently it had gone for a swim
across the Pacific Ocean, but couldn't remember how to get back. A
team of Chinese hauliers moved Japan back to its rightful place,
for which Japan gave thanks by invading China in 1931.
The age of consent in Japan is 7 years old. Many Japanese believe
that this is far too high and should be lowered.
The age of retirement in Japan is 85. Due to their love of work and
little else (save reading comics and playing Playstation all
night), many Japanese believe that this far too low and should be
hired.
