Agree that the ILS alone would swing it all to the F-15E. Even politically it maybe a better decision though the benefits would not be as great as South Kore...

According to French press, a contract for 59 Rafale for the French Air Force and Navy will be signed before month end. Means this week.

i would like to ask are there any posibility that we are going to buy two type, rafale,tyhoon? given that our f-5 is also up for replaced in 2012-2014, rafale for the a-4 tyhoon for the f-5 ,as for the block-15 [upgrade to block 30]n block 50 to replace by the f-35 in the longer term 2015-2025???

Sorry, the F-5 will be replaced together with the A-4SU/ A4S-1 ultimately, RSAF has said that already

F-35A will be the replacement for F-16

Typhoon is dead, it is already is the most ex plane in the world. You can buy 2 F-35/ F-15/ F-18 or 3-4 F-16 for 1 EF2000

the Typhoon cost about the same as the Rafale, the F18E/F and the 'Westland' Apache....

The JSF has been promised to be cheaper than the Typhoon, but 'Time Will Tell'.

F-35B/C: Similiar, but more ex

Hey, why do you compare prices from the 70ies with those of today ?
It is a bit silly to compare the price of a Typhoon with F-16 block15/20 or F-18 A.
F-15K ~100mill
F-16 block 52 ~50mill
F-16 block 60 ~70mill
F-18 E ~70mill
Typhoon ~50-100mill
And JSF gets more expansive day by day....

No the prices are still in the 90's, Singapore got F-16C/D for US$20 million each. US does give "special" rates to allies (Rumoured to be, that's how we got 110 A-4)

F-35 is not getting ex day by day. EF2000 is worst, there is no work at all now (But Britian as agreed to stop its stupid complaint saying it needs better weapons as EF is outdated). But F-35 is confirmed to be capped at US$40 million when launched in 2012 by Lockheed Martin. Even so, it is worth it compared to this lousy EF2000 as it is STEALTH

F-16 will be replaced by the stealth F-35

RSAF has 105 A4SU. 20 or so (Could be 18 as well) has become training planes. 45 are in storage. The rest have been or going to be replaced

Sqn 142: Still using (20+)
Sqn 143: Replaced by F-16D (20)
Sqn 145: Replaced by F-16C/D (20)

Well, tranche 2 deal is sealed. That means the program continues.
Yes, JSF is *stealthy*, it is no all aspect stealth aircraft. And it will be available,at best, in ten years from now on for export. This means it is out of competition. It's only about F-15, Rafale and Typhoon.

The tranche 2 is signed last week aft Germany was hostile to UK to stop its "nonsense" on wanting to have better ground precision weapons.

That's for F-16 replacement.
Isn't F-117 *stealthy* as well?

But there might be US pressure to force Singapore to buy F-15 (Through weapons deal)

I'm not bashing, the JV is just untstable and hence this EF is just like another failure (Econimcally also... if you didn't know let me tell you, if the govt cut its defence spending, this most ex plane in the world "programme" will be affected hard) That's a reality which has popped out years back by Britian

if EF Typhoon is such a failure as you have said.......what about F/A-22 Raptor? Rolling Eyes JSF has its own set of problems also...look at PANAVIA, SPECAT and other joint programs.......since when it runs smoothly 100%?

Would add the Anglo-Franco project.....aka the Concorde as well.... Laughing

That said, most long tennured projects face problems, esp. cooperative projects as mentioned due to the following:

- Technologcial difficulties with respect to the project
- Political difficulties, differing and shifting needs and priorities
- Budgets (tied to different priorities, change in government, etc.)

Tranche 1 block 5 (2005): IRIS-T (analog), 27mm Mauser(a2g),Paveway II/GBU-16/GBU-10, MK-83/MK-84/MK13&20

Tranche 2 block 10 (2007): IRIS-T (digital), Lightning laser pod, Paveway IV, MK 13/18, GBU-32 JDAM

Tranche 2 block 15 (2009): AIM-120 C5, Meteor, Paveway III, GBU-24, BLU-109, Mk-84 on add. stations, Alarm, Taurus Kept 350, Stormshadow, Brimstone

Many of those ammunitions are already for UK only. (Mk-13/18/20), GBU-24,....
If they feel the need to integrate their Brimstone & Storm Shadow earlier, nobody will stop them. They are made in UK, and BAe Systems is responsible for their integration.
