I am just wandering what are the types of training that our NS
boys are going through? But I think SAF is moving away from routine
training mode to more realistic type of training.
Anyone still heard that guards have a 10km FBO run, but during me
time (7 years ago), that was not executed. Instead it was
incorporated into a field exercise where we are giving an objective
and en-route timing, if we fail to reach the objective within the
given timing the punishment was up to the instructorsÂ…Â….. and that
was during the conversion course.
Further, in training school, the topo exercise was more than a
route march. Most of the time the check points are located totally
opposite to each other within the exercise area. If you need 5
check points to pass and all are located opposite to each other
within a 20 x 20km exercise area (not local). So it is anyone guest
what is the average distance covered within a 3 day topo
exercise.
