You can make iPod totally legal by purchasing the songs online from Apple.

How to expect students to purchase copyrighted music off the web, good question. And a good business opportunity if you know how. Laughing

ndmmxiaomayi SG

No laws say, but Singapore may not recognize that you are not the one who is downloading music...

Anyway, since you allow only certain MAC addresses, they can't even connect.

Unless they break into your router lor... Laughing

When you connect to the Net, you will be assigned an IP address. Everybody's IP address is unique, like your fingerprint. When you access a server, your IP address will be logged. When you download something, your IP address will be sent to the server as well.

Other information may be logged as well, but it all depends. A simple JavaScript can show what browser you are using when you access that website. Cool

Usually, information will not be given to third party, unless the police requests it.

But hor, no computer how to start the router? Laughing

Effectively, it's useless.

ndmmxiaomayi SG

802.11n is actually in use. But it has not been verified yet. IEEE is working to verify it, expected by next year. You see pre-N routers around or routers that claim speeds up to 108Mbps. Those are actually under 802.11n.

hisoka SG

how to mask or destroy such evidence?? some smart pple help to make virus that will erase all information loged on the servers(and works) leh

ndmmxiaomayi SG

You are able to get to that server then tell me. Laughing

You can mask your IP address against most people, except your ISP. One way is to use proxy. One free one is Anonymizer... (don't know how to spell, somewhat similar)

Another way would be to use a VPN, although it's an overkill for normal home networks.

hisoka SG

obviously the ISP is the most important Laughing

why cannot get to the server? its very secure?

oh well i'll settle for the comps at RIA all exploding violently and vigorously

ndmmxiaomayi SG

You set up your own ISP lor. Then erase the logs that is against you. The only way I can think of. Laughing

Nothing to do with server very secure. Any normal person wouldn't know how to hack in.

hisoka SG

thats why need smart and good samaritians to help out against the tyranny Laughing

Ponders SG

If i am not wrong IDA requires a security bond of $10million if you want to set up an ISP.

Ponders SG

can.. a router can work out of the box. then you start the router wirelessly lor.

or you can use a computer to start it.. after which you move it out of the "incriminating" house.

ctstalin SG

swipe this over your hard disk Laughing

dragg SG

obviously the music industry and the mp3 player manufacturers are at loggerheads.

dragg SG

i wonder if anyone actually has 6000 songs in their iPODs.

Ristar SG

yep, 6000 is a lil too much. i think they use it for data storage... like, ripped movies that havent been screened in cinemas yet, porn... and lots of it, documents, powerpoint presentation to present to their boss/teacher... porn... and more porn. Laughing

pwnz0r SG

Just use a large powerful magnet to wipe… Nothing they can do after.

elindra SG

What happens if you just download but not distribute (upload)?
One less charge to charge you?

Texcoco II SG

If I’m not wrong, I read the old computer times (years back) they mentioned that even if u own a legal copy of a music CD, u lend it to ur friend, who then ripped the CD and store inside his comp, that is illegal, in which he committed a similiar offense no difference from downloading music
