BenBenDeZhu SG I think its just a old custom dating back to when there were no laws governing marriage
Xcert SG when U register for marriage at ROM...Ur future spouse and your particulars will be entered into the database and people will be able to check if a notice of marriage have been filed...online or even AXS machines....then if they want to object...they will have to contact ROM...with valid reasons...."I love her more than you" crap is not going to help lor....I think they need more legal reasons than that lor... gatecrashing weddings at churches only happens in movies...
SingaporeMacross SG in the church, they have the wedding banns, which is an official announcement asking if anyone objects.
weeie SG what do you mean by wedding? at the ROM? church? etc? according to singapore law....someone can object by personally going down to ROM...of course it must be based on legal grounds...such as one of them are already married in another country and things like that... many more..
kaobeikaobu SG under Act 1976( marriage and divorce), section 25 and 26, the bride/groom is allowed to shoot the person, who objects to the wedding without a valid/legal reason, immediately.
zheshi SG U will be famous. That couple will remember you for life. Weather u leave the church in one piece or not depend on it
Xcert SG I not christian so I dunno much about church weddings...but since the notice of marriage has been filed for a minimum of 3 months and there has been no objection at ROM...then legally the couple is cleared to wed. the gatecrasher's objection at the church is not legal...its purpose is only to shake the wedding's couple resolve to marry... if one of the couple changes his/her mind...then the wedding most likely would be called off...but its because one of the couple backed out... if they still want to go ahead with the wedding...then gatecrasher also LL....
oxford mushroom SG You can only object if you have valid reasons la...eg. either party is already in a marriage or the couple are in an incestous relationship... if you have a vaid reason, the priest/pastor will halt the wedding.
