ST is really not bad---she can produce what US can do,though may
be a little bit later.
LONG RANGE ACOUSTIC DEVICES (LRAD) is a breakthrough long-range
hailing and warning, directed acoustic device that is designed to
determine intent, change behavior, and support various rules of
engagement. With LRAD, a sentry can issue a focused verbal
challenge with instructions in excess of 300 hundred yards, and
follow up with a warning tone to cause behavior change. Recorded
messages can be selected and delivered over LRAD in multiple
languages.

In October 2000, the small-boat terrorist attack on the USS Cole in
Yemen killed 17 Sailors and caused significant structural damage to
the ship. The U.S. Navy was now faced with intercepting and
deterring small boats while reducing the threat to the fleet.
Subsequently, CINCLANTFLT established a 500 yard Naval Vessel
Protection Zone around U.S. Naval vessels. The Protection Zone
propelled the need for the LRAD technology safe standoff
capability to Hail and Warn vessels and determine intent. In an
effort to satisfy the U.S. Navys dilemma, American Technology
Corporation accelerated the development of the LRAD and delivered
prototype LRADs to COMTHIRDFLT, COMSECONDFLT and COMSEVENFLT Force
Protection Officers in 2003.

OPT&E- October 2003
American Technology Corporation delivered LRADs to the U.S. Navy
Surface Warfare Development Group (SWDG) for Naval Operational Test
and Evaluation. The Development Group's goal was to evaluate the
employment and operational effectiveness of the LRAD technology in
the operational fleet. Concurrently, the LRAD technology was being
evaluated at the ATFP test sight in San Diego.

American Technology Corporation delivered remotely-operated LRADs
to NSWC Crane for IROS3-December 2003
The IROS is a concept for integrated ship board protection systems.
The LRAD Technology was integrated with other sensors for waterside
force protection.
