Anyone wanna go to Indian Institute of Technology to study?
IIT is well renowned in Asia. Some of their top graduates get drafted into MS, Google and others in sillicon valley.
The IITs were ranked third-best worldwide for technology, after MIT and Caltech. IIT is one of the best if not the best IT uni in the world today , this is a fact acknowledged by MIT

Here comes the best part
Cost:

Per annum
fees around US$6K
living expenses around US$4K

Expensive Uni without worldwide acreditations…+1 and ban…

valentinoo SG

who said its not recognized?

ban this fella for being dumb

rmyfrm SG

AGREED!

EDIT: mate of mine who didn't get offered a position by one of the seven institutions that make up IIT is now studying medicine ~

Hahaha owned... Laughing

Herzog_Zwei SG

It's only regionally recognized... not globally... anybody bothered to read the bloody sentence?

Most of the graduates head towards Silicon valley in US or India's own tech developement facility.

Considering the money spent and the competition from fellow IIT graduates in the job market, it'll be overtly expensive for a Singaporean to study there. Singaporeans will be asking for a higher pay due to higher cost of living than their Indian counterparts, even if they have the same degrees.

Ito_^ SG

i read its harder to get into IIT den MIT, not including high competition and not very recognized among non-IT sectors. e.g. a dye company would never have heard of it even if they have an IT department.

overall, its still not worthwhile for foreigners to study there.

ps: i rather go china. Laughing

the.owl SG

who cares.

ndmmxiaomayi SG

Expensive and no guarantee of a job in MS, Google or Silicon Valley.

By the way, those who think Silicon Valley is still the place to go for a tech job, please wake up.

weeie SG

you are dumb...i don't know why the heck about "regionally recognized"..

the fact is that US can pay these talents better than what SG can offer... as simple as that.

if you wanna talk about how recognized they are.. i would say SG can't afford to recognize them....even if SG can.. they will be taking the leftovers...Top ones all go US liao la....why? because they are recognised...

weeie SG

no uni guarantees you a job in MS, google or silicon valley..

silicon valley is not as bad as you think... not many people can make it there because all the gd jobs are taken up by the better ones.

Herzog_Zwei SG

I am not dumb. If you checked properly, IIT's degree is not globally recognized hence you can't take that to anywhere in the world which needs your professional specialization. If fact, that certification is mainly recognized in the Indian subcontinent, although a few graduates made it big in US.

Yes, Singapore does employed those that it recognizes through the LAOTSE plan. And paywise, which Singaporean graduate can take a S$900 per month paycheck. Only the local graduates from IIT can afford such a paycheck and still survive.

ndmmxiaomayi SG

Whether it guarantees a job, I don't care.

I don't agree with the Silicon Valley part. There's no such thing as a good or bad job, only whether you are interested in it or not.

ndmmxiaomayi SG

You work in a global world, not a regional continent. The world is not a just a continent either. The fact that only a few universities recognize shows how famous it is. And add on to the fact that barely anybody outside of India knows what the heck IIT is, you get the drift.

Rock^Star SG

Have u enquired at Fookin U? Think it's somewhere in Fujian.

JoeMuni SG

IITs are a group of seven autonomous engineering and technology oriented institutes of higher education established and declared as "Institutes of National Importance" by the Government of India (in their constitution ).

So no joke ok. anyway the living expenses u can get really cheap food in India if u don;t take the unversity campus offer

If u hav been living like a turtle in its shell which never popped out its head, its time to wake up and see the world.

1. Brief description of the higher education system in India

The India higher education sector has expanded at a phenomenal rate in the last century. The European system of higher education was introduced in India by the British in 1857 with the establishment of universities for European education in three cities and withdrawal of support for indigenous education. By India's independence in 1947, an additional 18 universities had been established. In 1950-51 when the country's First Five Year Plan was launched, there were 27 universities serving 174,000 students. By 1997 there were 229 universities (composed of general universities; science and technical universities; open universities; agricultural universities; women's universities language universities; and medical universities), more than 8,000 colleges, and 6.4 million students, making India's system of higher education the second largest in the world (Chitnis, 1999, 26).

India also have ranking of their uni.

It is a fact NTU and NUS will never make it to their Uni requirements. So its time self proclaimed idiots shut up and face the facts.

The most humble part is that IIT dont boast and say they are the best IS0 certified, what Sh*t things like that. They make others talk about their graduates when the pass out. Wake the hell up u turtles.

Rock^Star SG

Wow, strong language indeed! Laughing

What is IIT's ranking in the world? And also the other unis?

JoeMuni SG

Dumbsters are everywhere. Forgivable

The reason why IIT is not advertised becos they accept mostly their own Citizens

the 2nd thing is that u are mind dumbingly "right". US silicon valley accepts IIT graduates who are "not recognised"

TehJarVu SG

give me scholarship and stipend i also dun wan to go there.
