Just a few notes,
1) The "F" in front of the number just stands for "Fighter"... No big deal really...

2) During the Cold War, the USA even gave "F" codes to Soviet aircraft, e.g. the MiG-21 Fishbed was designated the YF-110. The "Y" is added for any experimental fighter aircraft. In this case, it's cause "acquired" MiGs were used for experiments & testing. YF-113 was the designation given to the MiG-23. However, the use of the "F" series for Soviet aircraft was later abandoned.

3) Besides the Soviets, the Americans also labeled the Isreali IAI Kfir jet, the F-21. This designation remains even though the US dropped using the "F" series on all other foreign fighters.

4) The Hornet is labeled F/A-18, standing for Fighter and Attack.

5) The "F" system has sometimes not been applied properly, for example, the JSF will be labeled the F-35 instead of the next number in the series which is F-24. The reason for skipping so many numbers is because the JSF used to be called the X-35 (under eXperimental series)... and when the needed to switch it over to the "F" series, they felt it was more convenient just to change the letter in front...

1.Yeah..that's right although some essentially attack aircraft are designated 'F' too like the Thunderchief (F-105), Aadvark (F-111) and the Nighthawk (F-117)

2.The Soviet F's are Soviet fighter types received (and operated?)by the US from examples given by friendly nations like Israel and Egypt, not that the US named the Soviet fighters in general ....by the way, unless I missed something the F-110 is actually the original designation for USAF F-4C Phantom II....being F-110 Spectre.

3. The Kfir is designated F-21 Lion as it was operated by the USMC as Agressor aircraft.

4. Yeah this is quite weird as many other dual-role aircraft do not have F/A designation....

Hey u guys or ladies,pl make full use of ur cool photos.
We can see only part of them.

1.Pl open a PAINT file from START or ACCESSORIES. then COPY IMAGE from
the source,right click ,move cursor to COPY IMAGE,then left click.

2.PASTE THE IMAGE IN PAINT file,reduce the size by click the retangle ,move the
arrow when only 2 arroes appear. SAVE it on DESK TOP.

3.OPen a account www.photobucket.com free of course.
right click BROWSE , click cursor on desk top,right click file name,right click open,

file name now appears in photobucket,
right click file name in PICTURE in photobucket,then left click,(that is copy
the file name)
paste file name in Forums,but before that u have to click Img.
after paste file name,click Img.

Pl upload the image to www.photobucket.com during non-peak hours.It may just take few minutes.If not ,may take 30 mins!!

2.May i appeal to Moderators to teach how to put photo,or even adjust them,

b) Quote etc.....in home page.

Some old wo/men here really dunt know how to do.I am one of them
