I notice Singapore has not globalised fast enough.
There are too few international people in Singapore.
If Singapore is serious in wanting to become a global,
cosmopolitan, dynamic, 'hub',
then it should invite more people here from all over the
world.
And to avoid nationalistic backlash or resentment,
These newcomer immigrants should be called 'international
talents.'
Of course, this will avert the 'us-them' mentality from the phrase
'foreign talent.'
I feel this phrase was poorly designed by the power ups.
A more dynamic, exiting sounding name should be 'international
talents.'
And Singapore should go all the way. Full speed ahead, 5th
gear.
Current globalization proccess is simply too slow, provoking some
negative resentment, and not diverse enough.
Singapore should import all races of people, from not only China
and India, but also South Africa, Poland, Nigeria, Korea, Finland,
all places.
Then Singapore will be like mini United Nations.
But better of course.
This can be done by easing the procedures and even providing
incentives such as tax breaks for five years or offering settlement
funds.
It will propel Singapore as a true cosmopolitan city.
4 million people simply not enough. Not enough athletes, not enough
scientists, not enough entrepreneurs, simply not enough.
If there is anybody in the world who can do it,
It is Singapore.
With its efficient, stable, quick, compact, well-run social systems
and policy making,
Singapore should grab for this chance.
