Should Airsoft be legalized in S'pore?

Hell, yes! to airsoft, I mean.

I lived in HK for aeveral years and when you find the right people, playing "wargames" with airsoft is the most exciting thing I'd ever done.

Never felt this scared before. All your army training can finally be put to good use.

Man, those airsoft hurts like hell. We modify them so that the pellets can penetrate the bottom of a coke can easily.

I got hit in the side of the neck once and it bled.

People who got direct hits end up with angry purple welts.

Never tried airsoft before but from observations note that it comes close to real as you can get.

Maybe show all young pups why we train physical fitness/toughness with so much sweat (it is tiring to do run, dodge etc!). Things like communication (voice commands) become all too really important.

Only worry, airsoft wargames may cultivate wrong/bad habits, like not proning (airsoft pellets don't penetrate simple barriers like plywood screens) will mean no hits while if to use real bullets would mean 'becoming dead meat'.

Think it is rather dangerous. Played with one that uses compressed air while in Canada. Winter night at -20c outside, don't feel like going out, nothing to do, so took my friend's airsoft pistol to play. We lined up six potatos in a straight line and shoot thru them. the pallet penetrated all six potatos and was stuck in the wooden wall. Had also killed a rat using it. The pallet penetrated the head. Shocked Think it is too dangerous esp if kids dunno the danger of it and anyhow shoot.

Oh, btw his pistol is one of the more fierce one. uses compress air canister and lead pallets. Air pump ones and plastic pallets may not have such penetrating power.

i think they should hav eall barrels of the airsoft weapons and keep a check list for every fella that buys an airsoft gun, why not come up with this rule that you have to bring your airsoft weapon to the police station to check if the marking is still there…

You can own real pistols, but you have to be a member of the SRA or the SGC, and your weapon is stored in the respective armories.

Only problem with airsoft is that they all have a tendency to break down.

The mechanism are usually too delicate to stand up to the impact of firing the weapon for long.

When you buy these toys, make sure to go for Japanese models and not the Taiwanese ones.

For pistols I had a Taiwanese-made 92-F (CO2) and it literally fell apart after a year or so. Right from the start it needed frequent tuning to the firing pin and replacement parts to the magazine gas valve.

For long arm I had a MP5 Navy fixed butt stock replica with the recoil spring replaced for higher strength. This probably caused a lot of later problems.

But this MP5 was accurate as hell up to a distance of 5m after I zeroed the sights. After 5m you have to compensate for drop.

The Singapore government has always been worried about health problems right?Well airsoft wargames will encourage physical activity due to the proning,lying and consistent running.Thinking and strategy comes into play as well, it also forms stronger bons between strangers or strengthen bonds between friends.I do agree with the age restriction tho but maybe lesser like 18?some young kids might just bring it out like a weapon if there is no age restriction should it be allowed and paint the tips orange or some other colour like the U.S does to indicate its a replica weapon.Hopefully, this could also bring some tourist revenue as well.

If people say its dangerous think of this.Many singaporeans actually do own airsoft, but has there been a case of airsoft "Gone wrong" that you actually find or read about in Singapore?

anyway since paintball has masks, why not have it for airsoft too, it's not everytime we see people gettin shot in the eye....
