By S Ramesh, Channel
NewsAsia
SINGAPORE : Singapore's Chief of Defence Force, Lieutenant-General
Ng Yat Chung, is on an eight-day visit to the United States
starting Sunday.
MINDEF said this was General Ng's first visit to the US as chief of
defence force.
He will call on the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General
Richard Myers, Secretary of the Navy Gordon England, and other
senior US Armed Forces officials.
General Ng will also visit the US Joint Forces Command in Norfolk,
Virginia, and the Republic of Singapore Air Force's training
detachments in the US.
MINDEF said that General
Ng's visit underscored the strong defence relationship between the
US and Singapore.
The two armed forces interact regularly and this has served to
enhance their professionalism and inter-operability. - CNA
