Appeal to waive off TP Fine

I just got booked by an "ambush" camera along Victoria Street towards Bugis. I was travelling at 76km/h, exceeding the speed limit of 50km/h. Very unlucky cos i don't own a car myself, i rented one that "fine" day.

As this is my first traffic offense, any advice on appealing against the fine of $150 and 6 demerit points?? Actually, i'm ok with the demerit points since i seldom drive anyway. I'm more concern on the $150. And also, can anyone tell me what if my appeal fails?? Will I be penalised by a further fine or something??

Appreciate if someone can give me suggestion for a powerful and reasonable appeal letter.

appeal sure fail unless u got v good reason.

i doubt you can appeal successfully. no reason for them to waive it at all first time also an offense and you were going significantly over the speed limit in fact is more than 1.5 times the speed limit leh

Nah dont think they will.. anyway you are very unlucky.. if you had driven at 70KM.. it is alright… hmmm… I thought that street is now 60KM/H?? interesting.. oh well.. it is just an unlucky for you… hard luck

Exceeding speed limit of the road by more than 20 km/h up to 30 km/h.
DIPS: 6 Points.
Fine: Light vehicles - $150, Heavy vehicles - $180.
Court fine if you go to court: $500 -$1000

The waiver of demerit points and reduction of the fine amount is fixed and not negotiable.

If payment is not made by 12 noon on the court date, no payment of any form will be accepted and court attendance will be compulsory.

Decide if you want to go to court and explain to the magistrate, or pay the fine and close the matter.

Don't whine, please.

yeah man, i guess i just be a good boy and go pay the fine.... thx guys, for sharing the experience and stuff... gonna be very careful next time... although there is nothing we can do to those "ambush"... just follow watever the speed limit is... bo bian... Sad

write watever story u cn create lor, must not be intimidating, praise them. keep in mind tat the same veh number must not appeal more than twice within a year with tat particular dept.

ya gradually there will be more "ambush" speed guns deployed on more roads and that's going to be good news for the road users, i hope traffic collisions can be minimized and frequent speedsters can be taught a lesson

got $ to burn then go n pay lor. a lot ppl think if appeal unsuccessful sure kanna heavier fine…WRONG. even beat the red light kanna take pic oso can go TP see pic n confirm is it u. sometimes got discount, no harmful trying. heavier sentence or fine only apply to court case.

Quite true.
Once I got caught on camera for beating the red light. I was driving a pick-up with a dog tied at the back.
I prepared my dog story like crazy, and went to TP at Maxwell Road. There was a queue for the appeal officer on duty that day. When it came to my turn, she just reduced the fine without listening to my story. I just "Ahh..." and the next guy elbowed me out of the way.
I paid $40, reduced from the then $60 compound fine.
At that time, I still felt "unsatisfied" because I think I have a good excuse, but decided not to press my "luck", and paid up the reduced fine and left.

i think that happens if you face the judge, but we are talking about the TP only, so i don't think you'll get a heavier fine lah,hor?

i've just cleared the fine Sad ... save all the trouble of appealing... now hav to be a good boy on the road for the next 365 days in order to reset my points...
