yeah ...MILSPEC watches required the crystal to be acrylic for
the safety purpose that a acrylic crystal will crack, where by the
sapphire crystal glass will shatter hence even more hazard.even the
Omega Speedmaster which was worn to the moon, was a acrylic
crystal...
well i agree with some statements that John mention rgding the use
of the Miltary to sell their products..in the case of Sinn, Rolex
and IWC, the armed forces actually contracted these companies to
produce MILSPEC watches for their personnel..
If u do a search on the history of IWC,Panerai,Rolex and JLC, these
famous brands actually supplied watches to their respective
military as a standard issue....infact the Panerai Luminor Series
was infact a only-military watch that the company sold, only after
Verdemont(not too sure abt the spelling) and Richemont did they
managed to persuade the Italian Navy to produce limited editions of
the same watch the Italian Navy was using back during WW2 ..
so its a different ball game there..haa...but i do understnad the
feeling of using a $2k over watch while in OPs..kinda of expensive
option, though the G Shocks are reliable, they are battery driven
and can be pretty annoying when u need to change batteries
outfield..i personnally use a cheap casio $30 watch that is
strapped to my pen slot in my long 4 when ever i go for excercise.i
dont like to wear my watch on my wrist..haha...just a pet peeve i
had..lazy to roll up the sleeve to see the time ..=)
