i think LTA juz needs OEM approval as some sort of control
measures or so called "yardstick" to determine who to point the
finger at in the event such cases of "HIDs blinding ppl" pops
up.
i mean, think about it. LTA is juz a governing body that has so
many responsibilities. on top of making expressways, making sure
tunnels dun collapse etc, i'd be nuts to undertake the task of
ensuring each vehicle meets roadgoing standards up to the point of
checking their HIDs. simple solution, juz make sure that the
manufacturer certify that these equipments are suitable and safe to
use on that particular car.
unfortunately, for aftermarket HID manufacturers, they have no
technical back up from the manufacturer in the event something goes
awry, and LTA would no way wanna take a chance at approving
something like that. simple solution, anything not from or
certified by manufacturer considered illegal. that way, we have a
clear guide on the dos and duns of aftermarket mods like HIDs.
