all this issue stems from the ideas that "I have the right to ...". Hoggers say "I am travelling at the speed limit, so I have the right to stay on this lane". Tailgaters say "I am fast, so this idiot should give way to me..."
I read an article some where that said in europe, there is this particular town where an architect design the traffic system by taking out all traffic signs and traffic lights. That particular junction, for many years, had not seen an accident. Reason being simple, there is no more right of way. Everyone are giving way to others. Everyone slows down. No one claim anymore rights.
This is the correct way to think. Driving and riding serve to bring us from pt A to B. Not a place to show off ego or idealism. Let us not take special circumstances like sending someone to hospital for emergency. Those are special cases. But in general, if everyone think for others, there will be a lot less traffic accidents around.

True, i dun recall road hogging an outright crime, nor do i recall the theory book awarding demerit points for road hoggers.

The point of all this is simple: Tailgaters dance with death by staying close; road hoggers ask for trouble by travelling slow on the fast lane.

They're both a recipe for an accident.

Put them together and chances are 50% of the time you will have one.

I always give way to fast approaching vehicles from behind even if i'm touching 110km/h, no point getting bugged by a hurried driver.

After all, it's better to swallow your ego then get involved in an accident = lose convenience of your car, increased insurance premiums, settling with the other driver (maybe even end up fighting)= not worth it.

A willing road hogger is someone who WANTS to find trouble as compared to an unwillinging one who can't move aside because of traffic. For me i put road hoggers and tailgaters in the same boat: Either DUMB or thrill-seekers.

You are lucky for the past 11 years. Just for once u meet someone more sicko than u, thats it. There is a case that the tailgater follow the road hogger to the home and kill him in the elevator. The case is still open.

I am sure you are one weird guy who enjoyed being cursed everyday from sun rise to sunset 24/7/365. For the past 11 years have you ever wonder what the drivers behind you are saying to you?

They are probably saying nasty things about you and your family members and as chinese say,if you kenna curse day in and day out, you must be one Sway Siao mother F**ker. Laughing

totally agree....im so anti road hogging is becoz there was once i fetch my staff(he is abt 61) who suffer a heart attack to hospital...he was having chest pain...we were at senoko going to SGH via cte. i was travelling at abt 150-160 ...till i met this dark green camry...this fucker was travelling at abt 80 on the right lane...i try cutting to the middle, manage to do it...but couldnt accelerate more...stuck at 80...so i have to shift back behind him...i highbeam him and horn him...this fucker still dont give way...i turn to look at my staff face...his face was so white....therefore i decide to horn him for a gd long one minute plus...but he didnt give way...

luckily for him, my staff is still alive....if not..i make sure he regret what he had done on the road.

but if you flash me, i might do it esp if i see you tried to go back to middle lane and middle lane can only go 80 cos it shows you are not really impatient. jsut my thoughgts

If you are using your father's road, you can do what you want. if you are using a public road then you must obey the rules..period!! If you choose to be a selfish singaporean, people is only going to look down on and see you as a first world human being with no brains.

My only advice to those road hoggers is dont rent a car when you are overseas, cause the chance of you being killed will be very high.

it would appear that very little can be said about the stick-in-the-mud mentality of drivers who persist in either road hogging or tailgating as if it was their god given rite.

we often bend the law and test our luck when drivin on the roads, be it speeding in order to overtake a slower vehicle, or following too close coz of a slower vehicle. to both, they are probably as smart as the other party that thinks he's stupid. basic rules of engagement and responsibility for self and other road users applies in all cases. if u get away with it without a speedin ticket or invlove urself in an accident, fine. better luck next time. but if u get caught 4 it, then be prepared to pay the consequences of going to court/pay money, and/or get urself/others hurt/maimed/decapitated or killed.

lol...people always say singaporeans have ugly behaviour and always think they are superior than others....i guess anyone after reading this thread will think alike....i hope singaporeans can just change their attitude, not for others but for themselves.

if u r on the escalators, pple block ur way, u say excuse me, they will give way...

if u in a crowded wat, pple block ur way, u use ur own Fucking initiative to say "sorry, excuse me" and they will give way...

so on the road, u block the way, pple say "excuse me" by horning pr flashing high beam at u, TT MEAN U R ROAD HOGGING...so basic courtesy, give way to others who are faster than u...
