The SAF ground element that asked for TNI protection was
actually the medical team in Banda Aceh.
As for the Indonesia VP's "get out in 3 months" message, I think
it's directed more at the US Marines - cuz, until they arrived, the
foreign troops (inc. the US Navy Skyhawks) have been largely
low-profile & task-oriented. The Marines, on the other hand,
are historically vociferous in insisting on operating things its
way & on a big scale at that. Today's ST, for example, reported
that they wanna set up a forward base onland & also asked for
Indonesian permission to fly its planes just to meet training
needs. Talk about blatancy! Even the Australian ang-mo's didn't ask
for that when they sent in their military to help.
