Two men have been arrested for racing down Seletar Link at more
than 130kmh, exceeding the road speed
limit of 60kmh.
The men, aged 22 and 35, face charges
of dangerous driving and taking part in an unauthorised speed
trial, said a police spokesman in a statement on Friday (Nov
27).
The older man also faces an additional charge of
driving a vehicle without insurance coverage.
They were allegedly taking part in a drag race down Seletar
Link.
"During a Traffic Police operation along Seletar Link towards
Punggol Way, the two men are believed to have driven their cars at
speed in excess of 130kmh, which exceed the road speed limit of
60kmh. They were stopped and arrested," said the spokesman.
If convicted of dangerous driving, first-time offenders can be
fined up to $3,000 or jailed up to a year, or both.
If found guilty of taking part in an unauthorised speed trial, the
men could be jailed up to six months and fined $1,000 to $2,000,
for a first-time offence.
Their vehicles may also be forfeited.
